The Alwaleed Centre at the University of Edinburgh seeks to appoint a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to implement its research activities and contribute to its teaching and outreach programme. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research in the field of Islamist parties and movements’ role in political governance in the contemporary Mediterranean region. Applications would be particularly welcome from candidates who demonstrate expertise in conducting comparative research on different aspects of contemporary politics and Islamism in the countries of the Mediterranean region. The successful appointee will commence on 1st September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a full-time (35 hours per week) fixed term position. Salary: £۳۳,۱۹۹ to £۳۹,۶۰۹per annum. Job Details Job title: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow School/Unit: LLC – The Alwaleed Centre Line manager: Director of the Alwaleed Centre Job Purpose To provide a two-year fixed-term early career development opportunity for a person recently qualified to PhD level in a relevant subject (i.e. within the last 3 years). The successful candidate will be expected to contribute both to the development of the Centre’s research profile as well as its teaching and outreach initiatives. The successful candidate will design and teach courses in the Department of Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies and/or other relevant departments as appropriate. This research position is designed to work in synergy with the current project on Mediterranean Islamisms let by the Director of the Centre.
